New Life

 

On March 13, I walked up our country dirt road, remedy bag in hand to a neighbor's home. 

The morning still, the sun warm, the air floral scented as spring, emerald green clothed the valley. Birdsong was the theme.

I had worked on this mare before, years ago.

The mare was pregnant, soon to foal. She had a bit of discharge that caused the guardian concern. No vet was able to come. 

I got the text and went to see the mare the following day. A beautiful racer she is, so full of life - in so many ways. 

The mare settled into the work. I left remedies and instructions...

This past Saturday I got the text, the babe was born. Arriving in the Year of the Fire Horse, right after the Full Moon in Aries - this one will be a firecracker!

Its been a flurry of loved beings passing of late, Dolly last September. My beloved cat Queenie, my sister passed January 1 of this year. Such events leave one in the changing tides of emotion grieving brings, revisiting the many layers of various beings transitioned through the years. 

Spring came early to the Sierra's this year. After a relatively warm and wet winter, the orchard, lilacs and roses bloom early. 

The deep earth regeneration this planet births forth in this season of renewal pulled me out of the sticky mud grief had me mired in.

That text with the picture of the momma and her babe swelled my heart. A rush of joy and life force surged through my body and welled my eyes with happy tears. 

Life wants to live. The Natural World knows this better than the battered programming humans peddle.

Since childhood, I have buried myself in the bosom of the Great Mother. She provided a comfort and stability often lacking in the human world. 

Life renewed nudged me from the doldrums. New life, yet again breathes into my aging bones. What a treat to live with this Beautiful Planet that regenerates with ferver lifting us, for another trip around the Sun!
