  On March 13, I walked up our country dirt road, remedy bag in hand to a neighbor's home.  The morning still, the sun warm, the air floral scented as spring, emerald green clothed the valley. Birdsong was the theme. I had worked on this mare before, years ago. The mare was pregnant, soon to foal. She had a bit of discharge that caused the guardian concern. No vet was able to come.  I got the text and went to see the mare the following day. A beautiful racer she is, so full of life - in so many ways.  The mare settled into the work. I left remedies and instructions... This past Saturday I got the text, the babe was born. Arriving in the Year of the Fire Horse, right after the Full Moon in Aries - this one will be a firecracker! Its been a flurry of loved beings passing of late, Dolly last September. My beloved cat Queenie, my sister passed January 1 of this year. Its Not the Bug

Quite the state we humans find ourselves in. You could smell the blood in the water for years, but human addicted denial reins supreme. It is never the bug, but a distorted vital force that allows disease. Welcome the pause. So many scared theories echoed through human pin-hole perception. So much contradictory ego babble coming from leaders and experts lips. The media so good at spooking the herd, watch em stampede. Quite the social experiment we are living. Last  years double earthquake should have had Californians better prepared. Then the Edison blackouts, the constant stress does not help when virulent strains are created - how ever they come about. Isolating social beings compounds the strain.. Science is splicing genes at an alarming rate, with very little regard to consequence. Many vaccines are genetically modified, when these modified bugs shed, they wreak havoc on those with natural immunity, the new bug is morphed and has its own agenda. When will we learn? Genet...

One Rogue Hen

  She kept an eye on me for quite some time, perhaps even months. Spying my actions as I worked my daily barn chores. Then, one day,  she boldly proclaimed Solandana her own. A rogue red hen, now named Irene Henrietta Reed. So bold she commands the pack the feral cats around the place. Even rousts them from their food.  Pooping on my porch, roosting in the trees at night. Dodging the hawk during the day. She is one tough chicken! Gene worries about where she will sleep come the winter snows. I tell him, "don't worry, she is one strong-willed bird, she'll tell us when the time comes." You'd think he know about strong willed women by now! There is so much to be entertained here by. The antics of the crazy red bird, the cats, dogs, horses and the wildlife - who needs TV? I'd much rather spend time outside with creatures that find us. It's time well spent that fills the soul, eases the mind and reminds one of the real value of life and freewill.
