  Observations during lock down: Freedom is fickle and dependent on the whole. Early on the Biotech Company Abbvie had a commercial, telling us that “the best way to predict the future is to create it”. That’s pretty “in your face”. The commercial didn’t air for long, yet for me, it was chilling and telling. It has long been known computers generate algorithms to predict buying tendencies. This pandemic has had huge payoffs for some, catastrophic for others. As a friend of mine once said, humanity has become a commodity. Till We Meet Again, Sweet Phife

 She was found along the road, a 4th of July weekend, broken legs and all. She was brought home to heal. In no time at all, she ran the family. A tiny package of mighty chihuahua. When Duane showed up last year - she let him know in short order who ran the pack. It was the funniest thing to see that giant dog cower to little Phife.  I will always remember the Christmas Eve dinner at our old home. The elder bunch of siblings and spouses gathered around the table after the meal. Phife dressed in her red velvet, white fluffy trim and rhinestone finest. She rested on my lap. My sisters other half wanted to get up and stretch his legs. Phife eyed him with disapproval. She scanned the room to note no one else was getting up from the table. She gave him a commanding bark to sit down and Mike did. Goldie

  Sometimes, life graces you with a good buddy for many years. This was the case with Goldie, 17 years of steadfast comradery.  She was found as a 3 month old pup, roaming a parking lot. I was observing her from a far. Those she approached for help shunned her. I rolled the old El Co up near her, opened the door, squatted on the ground and said, "most don't listen well do they kid?" She sheepishly approached me, ears back, tail wagging with an embarrassed look in those gorgeous, black lined, eyes.  She hopped in the car. We did a courtesy round through the parking lot asking if she belonged to anyone - we were ignored.  I drove home with my new buddy and she easily joined the existing pack of Murphy, Winston, ChiDoxie and Peppy. She fit like a glove in the household and was nothing but perfect. Her cross of shepherd and Golden was just the sweetest, loving and caring mix.
