Mountain Bluebirds

Image
These little flying jewels adorn and own the front yard. Earlier in summer, a mother Bluebird fed her babes from the Oregon Grape plants that grow there. They love the Weeping Willow that graces Solandana's enterance. Very healing plants and a very healing sight to bask and glow in! Right off the front porch.

Smiling Freddy the Frog

Image
Can you spot Freddy the Smiling Frog? This little handsome friend found a home in my bromiliad. He even lets us pet him, as do the garter snakes around the property! Bromiliads are tropical and will need to be brought in the house soon as the weather gets colder, not quite sure what Freddy will do then...

At Brite Lake

Image
During the week, you pretty much get Brite Lake all to yourself. Kayaking can be enjoyed, no motorized boats to spoil the serenity. Fishermen try for bass, catfish and trout, campers settle the perimeter.  The ponies enjoy the short walk to the lake. Its just a few blocks from our home.

Barn Building

Image
First you level the area for the round pen and barn. The round pen was ready as a temporary place for Pinky and Belle, till the barn was built. Then you get ready for concrete. Then concrete is poured and inspected (yes this process goes fast in counties other than Los Angeles). Then the barn arrives. Yes that's it in the background, on the trailer, pre-fab, all metal. Pinky insisted on photobombing - ham that he is! On Saturday August 4, 2018 the guys as Dry Creek Mini Barns start to put it all together. Happiest day of my life! And they keep going! By Sunday evening we are almost there! By Tuesday we have inspection and the ponies move in. It still needs a base of pea gravel, but once done, this porch will make a fine place for workshops and classes!

Made it!

Image
Its been two months since we arrived. Its wasn't an easy decisions to leave LA, my life long home, but it was time. The City Of Angeles didn't work for me anymore. I needed room to breathe, so did the ponies. In the coming weeks, I will have more posts ready, the barn is built, so many creatures and features to mention. I have never been happier... Thank you everyone, for all your prayers and well wishes...the ponies trailered like pros, the rest of the gang settled right into our new lives. We have been waiting for this a long time.

So it begins...

Image
Everybody says we are moving at the most beautiful time year. I just wanted the ponies to get acclimated under the best possible conditions. The view from the front door.  I think I can sit and soak here for a long time... One of the entrances. Another entrance. To the shop. Part of the backyard. Pad ready for round pen and barn. Across the road. After this week, a very long break, to get settled.

Solandana, a place to rest

Image
Her name is Solandana, the yearning, the longing. A life long dream come true.  Sparked and gifted by a benevolent benefactors' grateful healing. This is more than I ever could have hoped for. She is being transformed, to a place of rest. The field needs clearing, the barn yet to be built. The ponies and I can't wait. My place to rest, recoup and reconstitute for what's next. My place to roam and finish my earths' tutelage, I feel like have been accepted to the worlds finest university. The land, new plants and so many wild beings have so much to teach me. We hope to be settled by early summer. I will be taking some serious time off. Then there will be retreats, more books to write, classes, workshops and clinics to teach. Till then, dream on!
